Teck is a Canadian diversified resources company committed to the development of responsible mining and minerals, with business units focused on steelmaking coal, copper, zinc and energy.
Its headquarters are located in Vancouver and it has participation or ownership of mines located in Canada, the United States, Chile and Peru, as well as a metallurgical complex in Canada. Currently, it has several projects and operations in America.
Teck's experience covers a wide range of related activities such as exploration, development, smelting, refining, product stewardship, recycling, and research. Globally, Teck is a major copper producer, the second largest exporter of seaborne steelmaking coal, and the second largest producer of zinc concentrate.
In 2019, Teck was named in the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the 10th consecutive year and was the highest ranked mining company in both the World Index and the North American for the DJSI. Teck is also one of the top-ranked mining companies by Sustainalytics and MSCI.
Likewise, during 2019 Teck was included in the list of the 100 most sustainable companies in the world by Corporate Knights and was highlighted as one of the 100 best companies in Canada.
Teck Chile maintains an approximate workforce of around 1,400 workers.
Geographic Location and Connected Power
Teck is present in Chile through the operation of the Quebrada Blanca copper mines, in the Tarapacá Region and Carmen de Andacollo, in the Coquimbo Region, and the new project to expand its production, Quebrada Blanca Phase 2. It also has with a program of explorations in the country.
Together with Newmont Goldcorp, Teck is part of NuevaUnión, a copper, gold and molybdenum mining project whose deposits are located in the Huasco Province, Atacama Region, and which is developing its Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Study.
